Successful Festival Season Over
'I've had the honour of playing so many brilliant festivals this summer, playing solo and with The Mighty and The Moon and Dogwood Flowers. So many to mention, kicking off with The Springboard Festival which is always a favourite, I played 4 solo performances, a duo performance with Mike Rogers, a headline set with The Mighty and The Moon and then a set with Dogwood Flowers. I don't know how I did it but somehow I did. Then The Mighty and The Moon played the Music and Real Ale festival at The Minerva in Hull and then the Alive With Art Festival. Next up was the brilliant Humber Street Sesh which was just unreal, last year was amazing but this year was unbelievable and I had the honour of playing with both bands and by myself. Later on in August I played a solo set at Tribfest followed by a set the next day with The Mighty and The Moon. The Yum Festival was next and I played with both bands again, The Yum Festival was a warm up for Hull Folk Festival, Unfortunately I was unable to perform with The Mighty and The Moon at the Folk Festival due to other commitments but I played with Dogwood Flowers the night before, then I played a solo set at the Larkins Music and Beer Festival. Next up was the Freedom Festival where I played with both bands which was brilliant then I moved cities from Hull to Manchester and made the journey back to Hull after just a week to play the Trinity Festival which really was the icing on the cake for me. A fantastic stage, helpful management, a great team of sound techs and a very appreciative crowd.
Yes that was just the festivals too. A very hectic but brilliant festival season for me. Looking back now I'm so appreciative of all the opportunities I've been given this year on my own and with both of my bands. Thanks to everyone who has helped us along the way.
And last but not least thanks to everyone who came out to see us.
Now...let's do some more gigs! Keep checking the dates section of the site to see where I'll be playing next.'
See you soon

Back In The Studio
'Yes, it's true. I'm back in the studio. Well I say studio, Actually, I've now got the luxury of recording in my own home. Which makes it much more convenient for me to get things done. I've got ideas as to where I want the next album to go but it's very early days yet. But I'm enjoying the experience of doing everything myself and I'm proud of the results I'm getting so far.'

Update Regarding Tom's Vocal Problems
'Good news everyone!, I saw my specialist today and had my vocal cords looked at, There are no signs of any nodules or granulomas. I've been told I have Muscular Tension Dysphonia which has been causing my voice to cut out, sound harsh and feel weak. I'm going to be having vocal therapy soon to try and rebuild my voice and get it back in shape. As you know, my first performances since my vocal problem are going to be at this years Springboard Festival. I've got 4 solo slots and these are going to be a real test for me. But it is one I am looking forward to. Thanks to everyone who has shown their support over the last few months. I really appreciate it.'
Final Dates For Springboard Festival 2013
Really looking forward to playing the Springboard Festival this year. This will be my 6th year at the festival. It's always an amazing weekend. I'm especially looking forward to it this year as it'll be my first gig back after struggling with vocal problems for quite some time.
I'll be playing a mix of songs from my album 'Disclosure', which I will be promoting. I'll have plenty of copies with me which will be available for £5. I'll also be playing some new songs which I've wrote whilst I've not been performing and I'm sure there will be the odd cover thrown in for good measure.
As well as these solo shows, I'll also be performing with my band 'The Mighty and the Moon', we will be headlining The Cross Keys on the Sunday at 11pm. I'll also be playing guitar for my good friend Mike Rogers with his band at The Cross Keys on the Friday at 10pm.

The 'Tom Kay Trio' Call It A Day
Tom's popular blues trio have decided to call it a day. Here's a message from Tom:
Me, Lew and Carl have decided break up the trio. We enjoyed many successful gigs such as Springboard 2012, The Sesh and The Duchess in York where we opened for Simon McBride. But we feel we have grown apart in the last few months, Carl is doing different things and playing for other people and Lew is studying. I'm concentrating on my songwriting and making solo albums, I'm also playing for other bands/artists such as Mike Rogers and The Mighty and The Moon, And I've got lots planned for later on in the year.
I'd just like to say a huge thanks to everyone that supported us and booked us to play.
Who knows what may happen in the future.
But for now, Goodbye x
